Children Are The Greatest Gift From God!
Outdoor Activities to Encourage Children’s Connection to God’s Creation
Nature offers some of the most tangible testimonies to God’s power and creativity. We are all called to appreciate and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation, and there’s no greater time to cultivate this appreciation than during childhood.
As a Christian preschool, Premier Christian Academy plans outdoor activities that encourage children’s connection to God’s creation is of utmost importance. It’s an opportunity to foster a sense of awe and admiration for the natural world and help children recognize the presence of God in all things. Our Christian preschool has locations in Prosper and Northlake, Texas. Here are some outdoor activities that can strengthen children’s bond with nature. Contact us for a tour today!

Nature Walks
Nature walks are a great way for children to explore and discover the complexity and beauty of God’s creation. Toddlers and preschoolers can examine the different textures, colors, shapes, and sizes of plant life. They can observe insects, birds, and other creatures, and take note of the many wonders of the natural world. To make the walk more exciting, encourage children to spot and document different plants, leaves, or animals in activity sheets or mini journals.

Gardening
Gardening is a wonderful activity that promotes kids to be responsible for God’s green Earth. Through planting and caring for different plants or flowers, toddlers and preschoolers at our Christian school in Prosper can learn about God’s provision for their needs and the importance of nurturing growth and replenishing the soil. There are plenty of gardening activities that preschoolers can do like planting seeds, watering plants, pulling weeds, and harvesting produce.

Picnics
Picnics are a fun way to enjoy the great outdoors while teaching children about God’s provision. Pack a nutritious lunch, snacks, and fruits, and find a peaceful spot outdoors where toddlers and preschoolers can sit and enjoy their meals. While eating, you can talk about the benefits of a healthy and balanced diet and God’s grace in providing food to nourish our bodies. Praying and thanking God for the meal before you eat is great, too.
Nature Art
The beauty of art is that it is a powerful tool for appreciating nature’s beauty. We encourage our preschoolers and toddlers at our Christian preschool in Prosper to create art in the great outdoors, encouraging them to be imaginative with nature-based items like flowers, leaves, and branches. This can be an excellent time to discuss with preschoolers all the different ways that nature can inspire art, and how God’s creations make beautiful pieces.

Nature Scavenger Hunt
Nature scavenger hunts are an exciting outdoor game that allows toddlers and preschoolers to learn about the world around them while having fun. Create a list of nature-themed items like pine cones, different-colored leaves, rocks, flowers, and feathers, and enable kids to search for each item. As they discover and gather each item, take the time to discuss the characteristics that make each item unique. At our Christian school in Murphy, this is a favorite fall activity we like to do with our students.
Building Forts
Building forts with sticks, leaves, and other materials found outdoors allows kids to engage with the natural world while developing critical thinking and teamwork skills. They get to appreciate the structure and engineering that goes into building a shelter and gain an appreciation of God’s world in creating natural materials that can be used for protection and shelter.
